Optimization of Mirror Positioning for Single‐Camera 3D Displacement Measurements

Camera-based 3D displacement measurements are only possible when two different viewing angles of the respective measurement point available. We earlier introduced a simplified reconstruction algorithm for camera-mirror where mirror reflects second view onto camera sensor to eliminate need (costly) high speed camera. In this study, we concentrate on formulating guidelines how position with respect and measured structure, goal being minimize errors arising in procedure. The focus lies angle between optical axes both views. hereby also take into account limitations experimental setup that special camera-mirror-setup brings it. This study is conducted terms simulations using animation software BLENDER as well real experiments simple vibrating structure.
